The Wine Act 2003 and associated notices set standards for wine composition, labelling, and export requirements applicable to all NZ wine exporters.
MPI administers wine legislation, notices, and standards governing wine export, labelling, composition testing, and export certification under the Wine Act 2003. Winemakers and exporters must comply with applicable wine standards notices issued by the Director-General. Amendment Act 2022 updated certain provisions. Non-compliance can result in export documentation being refused.
