The obligation
The code sets out the competencies a forklift trainer should have and provides for instructors to be registered.
Under the code, a trainer should be a trained and competent operator who is authorised to conduct training. They should be able to teach and should know the safety rules for the machine thoroughly. The code provides for instructors to be registered and to be reviewed for competency to keep their registration. Instructors set theory and practical assessments so that only competent operators pass. They issue a certificate once the operator has passed and completed the course.
