The obligation
New ACOP approved 28 July 2025 under HSWA s.222, replacing previous forestry ACOPs. Sets WorkSafe's expectations for PCBUs in forestry and harvesting and has evidentiary weight in prosecutions.
WorkSafe NZ's 'Safe practice for forestry and harvesting operations' ACOP was approved by the Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety on 28 July 2025 under section 222 of the HSWA. It replaces all prior forestry ACOPs. PCBUs may adopt alternative practices only if they achieve an equivalent or higher level of safety. Non-compliance does not itself constitute an offence but the ACOP is admissible in court as evidence of what is reasonably practicable.
