The obligation
Defines duties of principals, contractors, and subcontractors under HSWA. PCBUs must actively manage overlapping duties throughout the forestry contracting chain.
Part A (Sections 2–4) of the ACOP addresses how health and safety obligations flow through the contracting chain in forestry operations. Principals, contractors, and sub-contractors are all PCBUs with overlapping duties under HSWA. They must consult, cooperate, and coordinate to manage risks. The ACOP clarifies what 'so far as is reasonably practicable' means in a multi-party forestry context and provides examples of good practice for contract documentation and site management.
