The obligation
PCBUs must train workers who may do asbestos removal or asbestos-related work in identifying and safely handling asbestos, and keep training records.
In addition to the training required by the Health and Safety at Work (General Risk and Workplace Management) Regulations 2016, a PCBU must ensure workers it reasonably believes may be involved in asbestos removal work or asbestos-related work are trained in the identification and safe handling of, and suitable control measures for, asbestos and ACM. The PCBU must keep a record of the training while the worker carries out the work and for 5 years after the worker stops working for that PCBU.
