The obligation
A PCBU directing work must provide PPE to workers unless another PCBU has, and must train them in its use, storage and maintenance.
These duties apply where personal protective equipment is to be used to minimise risks to health and safety. A PCBU who directs the carrying out of work at a workplace must provide PPE to the workers carrying out the work, unless another PCBU has provided it. Contravening this is an offence, with a fine of up to $10,000 for an individual and up to $50,000 for any other person.
