The obligation
PCBUs must notify WorkSafe immediately of notifiable events (death, notifiable injury/illness, or notifiable incident).
Subpart 2 of Part 4 requires PCBUs to immediately notify WorkSafe of notifiable events and preserve the scene. Notifiable events include deaths, notifiable injuries or illnesses (e.g. serious injury requiring immediate treatment), and notifiable incidents (near misses with serious risk). Failure to notify is a criminal offence. Records of notifications must be kept for at least 5 years.
