The Code guides PCBUs to carry out spray painting in properly designed and maintained spray booths or spray rooms with mechanical ventilation that captures and exhausts hazardous vapours and overspray, keeping flammable vapour concentrations well below flammable limits and chemical exposures below workplace exposure standards. Spray booth ventilation control systems should run a pre-purge cycle to remove residual contaminants and a post-purge period of at least five minutes after spraying.
