Where people work near holes, penetrations or openings they could fall through, a fall prevention device must be used if reasonably practicable.
Regulation 79A sets duties of certain persons as to holes or openings in floors. Holes, penetrations and openings must be made safe immediately after being formed. Any hole or opening in a floor, other than a lift well, stairwell or vehicle inspection pit, must be securely covered with material strong enough to prevent persons or things entering or falling through it.
