The obligation
PCBUs must ensure plant is guarded to prevent contact with dangerous parts and insulated from heat and cold hazards.
Regulations 208 and 209 of the WHS (General) Regulations 2022 (WA) require PCBUs with management or control of plant to ensure guarding prevents access to dangerous parts during operation, and that plant is insulated or guarded against heat and cold risks. The Code of Practice details design, installation and maintenance requirements for guards, and specifies that fixed guarding is the preferred option where practicable.
