The obligation
PCBUs must manage health and safety risks associated with plant at a workplace so far as is reasonably practicable, following the hierarchy of controls.
Regulation 203 of the WHS (General) Regulations 2022 (WA) requires a PCBU with management or control of plant to manage risks to health and safety. The Code of Practice provides the practical compliance pathway: identify hazards, assess risks, implement controls following the hierarchy (elimination, substitution, isolation, engineering controls, administrative controls, PPE), and review. PCBUs must consult workers when identifying and managing risks.
