PCBUs must assess the risks associated with identified hazardous chemicals, considering the nature of the hazard, potential exposure routes, and consequences. Controls must be applied in line with the hierarchy: elimination, substitution, isolation, engineering controls, administrative controls, and PPE (last resort). Control measures must be reviewed when circumstances change. The Code provides detailed guidance on each control tier, including ventilation, containment, and safe work procedures.
