The obligation

PCBUs managing or controlling electrical equipment, installations, or work on or near energised electrical equipment at any WA workplace must comply with this Code.

The April 2025 Code of Practice applies to all workplaces in Western Australia. It obliges PCBUs to identify, assess and control electrical risks associated with: electrical equipment (portable and fixed), electrical installations, and work on or near energised electrical equipment. The Code is issued under the WA Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and provides practical compliance guidance. Non-compliance with the Code may be used as evidence of a failure to meet statutory duties.
