The obligation
The Code gives PCBUs practical guidance on managing risks from asbestos, ACM and asbestos-contaminated dust or debris (ACD) at the workplace.
The Code is intended to be read by a person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU). It aims to minimise asbestos-related diseases such as mesothelioma, asbestosis and lung cancer. Other duty holders, such as a PCBU who commissions asbestos removal work, are recommended to read the Code so they are aware of mandatory requirements. Workers, their health and safety representatives and other people affected by asbestos-related work may also use the Code.
