The obligation
Employers must identify tasks involving a fall hazard, control fall risk and set up emergency procedures before relevant tasks begin.
Under regulation 43, an employer must, so far as is reasonably practicable, identify any task an employee must undertake at a workplace that involves a fall hazard. Part 3.3 also covers control of risk, use of ladders, administrative controls, use of plant and review of control measures. If only an administrative control is used, the employer must record the control and the task before the task starts; the penalty is 60 penalty units for a natural person and 300 for a body corporate.
