The obligation
Victorian OHS Regulations prohibit the supply, processing and installation of engineered stone containing ≥1% crystalline silica by mass from 1 July 2024.
The Occupational Health and Safety Amendment (Engineered Stone Prohibition) Regulations 2024 (SR 63/2024) ban the supply, use, installation and processing of engineered stone in Victoria. Employers, self-employed persons, and others in the supply chain must not supply, process or install engineered stone (containing ≥1% crystalline silica). The compliance code (Edition 3, April 2025) provides guidance on residual obligations when working with legacy/existing engineered stone installations.
