The obligation
New Victorian legislation strengthening and modernising dangerous goods law has passed Parliament; planned commencement April 2028. DGA 1985 and current regulations remain in force until then.
WorkSafe Victoria and the engage.vic.gov.au consultation page confirm new legislation to strengthen and modernise Victoria's dangerous goods laws has passed Parliament. Commencement is planned for April 2028 to allow duty holders and industry time to prepare. Until commencement, the Dangerous Goods Act 1985 and all related regulations (including Storage and Handling Regulations 2022, Explosives Regulations 2022, Transport Regulations 2018, HCDG Regulations 2016) continue to apply.
