PCBUs must control fire and explosion risks from flammable solvents and coating materials, including exclusion zones, ignition source management and ventilation requirements.
The Code requires identification and control of fire and explosion risks inherent in spray painting and powder coating (flammable liquids, combustible powders, electrostatic equipment). Controls include defining exclusion zones (see Appendix B), eliminating ignition sources, ensuring adequate ventilation, earthing equipment, and maintaining safe storage and handling of flammable materials in accordance with the WHS Regulations.
