The obligation
Where spray painting or powder coating is performed in or near confined spaces, PCBUs must comply with confined space requirements under the WHS Regulations.
The Code notes that spray painting or powder coating performed inside vessels, tanks or similar areas may constitute confined space work. PCBUs must identify confined spaces, conduct risk assessments, implement entry permits and atmospheric testing, and ensure emergency rescue procedures are in place in accordance with the WHS Regulations confined space provisions.
