The Code requires PCBUs to identify hazardous chemicals used in spray painting and powder coating (e.g. isocyanates, volatile solvents, powder particles), obtain and use Safety Data Sheets, assess inhalation and dermal exposure risks, and implement the hierarchy of controls — including substitution, engineering controls (ventilation/enclosures), and PPE as a last resort.
