The obligation
PCBUs must ensure plant is guarded to prevent contact with moving parts, and insulated from heat and cold where required, under the WHS Regulation (cl 208–209).
Clauses 208–209 of the Work Health and Safety Regulations 2022 (Tas) require PCBUs to ensure that guarding is provided for plant where a person could be injured by contact with moving parts or other hazards, and that insulation from heat and cold is provided where necessary. The Code of Practice elaborates on guarding design, fixed and interlocked guards, and inspection requirements. Guarding must not be easily removed and must not itself create new risks.
