The obligation
Section 19 imposes a primary duty on PCBUs to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety of workers and others affected by the business or undertaking.
Under s 19, every PCBU must ensure the health, safety and welfare of workers engaged by or whose activities are managed or influenced by the PCBU, and of other persons at or near the workplace, so far as is reasonably practicable. Specific limbs include safe premises, plant and structures; safe systems of work; adequate facilities; provision of information, training, instruction and supervision; and monitoring of health and working conditions.
