The obligation
PCBUs must prepare, implement and maintain an emergency plan for the workplace, covering emergency procedures, evacuation, and communication with emergency services.
Under the WHS Regulations (SA) and this Code, PCBUs must have a written emergency plan appropriate for the workplace that includes: emergency procedures (evacuation, medical), a system for communicating with workers and emergency services, and arrangements for testing the plan. The plan must be developed in consultation with workers and reviewed after any emergency or significant workplace change. Section 5 of the Code provides guidance on preparing emergency procedures.
