The obligation
A PCBU must provide health monitoring to workers at risk of asbestos exposure in licensed or ongoing unlicensed removal work, or asbestos-related work.
Ongoing unlicensed removal or asbestos-related work can include regular maintenance on ACM as part of another job, such as electricians or building maintenance staff in older buildings. Health monitoring includes a medical examination giving an initial baseline assessment, and must consider the worker's demographic, medical and occupational history unless a registered medical practitioner recommends another form.
