The Sugar mill safety Code of Practice 2024 (QLD) commenced 23 September 2024 under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and WHS Regulation 2011. It replaced the Sugar industry Code of Practice 2005 and is supplemented by the Cane rail safety supplement. Duty-holders operating within a sugar mill or cane railway system must comply with this code or an alternative method providing an equivalent or higher WHS standard.
