The obligation
PCBUs must identify, assess and control risks associated with plant in the workplace using the hierarchy of controls as guided by the COP.
Under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld) and Regulation, PCBUs must manage risks from plant (machinery, equipment, structures) by applying the hierarchy of controls: eliminate, substitute, isolate, engineer, administrative, PPE. The Code of Practice provides practical guidance on how to meet these duties — including design, manufacture, supply, installation, commissioning, use, maintenance, and decommissioning of plant.
