The obligation
In determining control measures for psychosocial risks, PCBUs must have regard to all relevant matters listed in Table 3 of the Code (WHS Regulation sections 55D and 55F).
Once a psychosocial hazard is identified, the PCBU needs to assess the risk it poses and decide how to control it. Hazards can be identified by talking and listening to workers, inspecting the workplace, noting how workers interact, reviewing reports and records, and using a survey tool. PCBUs must implement control measures in accordance with the hierarchy of controls. Further guidance on risk assessment is in the How to manage work health and safety risks Code of Practice 2021.
