The obligation
Manufacturers, importers and suppliers of substances must, so far as reasonably practicable, make sure what they supply does not put health and safety at risk.
This duty includes testing and analysing the substance and providing specific information about it. Manufacturers and importers must correctly classify hazardous chemicals; the classification decides what labels and SDS must contain, including hazard statements and pictograms. Importers, manufacturers and suppliers also have duties covering SDS preparation, ingredient disclosure, packing, labelling and supply of hazardous chemicals.
