The WHS Regulation sets specific duties for powered mobile plant, such as mobile cranes, reach stackers, straddle carriers and forklifts used in stevedoring.
WHS Regulation section 214 deals with the general control of risk for powered mobile plant. Working in and around mobile plant, and damaged or poorly maintained equipment, can cause crush injuries, disabling injuries and fatalities. Some work activities, like dogging, rigging and operating reach stackers, forklifts and some types of cranes, require workers to hold a high risk work licence issued by the regulator under the WHS Regulation.
