The obligation
From 29 July 2025, Queensland PCBUs must provide audiometric testing to workers who use hearing PPE for noise hazard tasks, following reintroduction of model WHS Regulation s58 in Queensland.
Queensland reintroduced s58 of the model WHS Regulation requiring PCBUs to provide audiometric testing to workers who are required to use hearing protection for noise hazard work tasks. The obligation commenced 29 July 2025. The Code of Practice provides guidance on meeting this duty. Workers must be tested within 3 months of commencing such work (if not tested in the prior 2 years), and then at least every 2 years.
