The obligation
PCBUs have a duty to consult workers about work health and safety and may also have to consult, cooperate and coordinate with other duty holders.
The Code refers to WHS Act section 47 (duty to consult workers) and section 48 (nature of consultation). Workers should be encouraged to report hazards and health and safety problems immediately, and any health and safety committee should be engaged in the risk management process. Under WHS Act section 46, a PCBU must consult, cooperate and coordinate activities with all other persons who have a WHS duty in relation to the same matter, so far as is reasonably practicable.
