The obligation
A person with management or control of a workplace must ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that all asbestos or ACM at the workplace is identified by a competent person.
Identifying asbestos or ACM is the first step in managing the risk of exposure to asbestos in the workplace. Where several people share this duty, they should consult, cooperate and coordinate with each other, workers and health and safety representatives. If an asbestos register already exists, there is no need to create another one, but it must be reviewed, revised if necessary and kept readily accessible.
