The Act binds all persons, including the State and, so far as the Parliament's legislative authority permits, the Commonwealth and the other States. The Act is in addition to, and does not limit, the Food Act 2006. One of its objects is to provide food safety measures for the production of primary produce that are consistent with other State laws relating to food safety.
