The obligation
PCBUs must provide access to first aid equipment, facilities and trained first aiders, having regard to all relevant matters.
Under WHS Regulation section 42(3), the PCBU must have regard to the nature of the work and hazards, the size and location of the workplace, and the number and composition of workers and other persons at the workplace. First aid requirements vary between workplaces, and these factors must be taken into account when deciding what first aid arrangements are provided. The code describes a four-step risk management approach, summarised in Appendix B, to tailor first aid to the workplace.
