The obligation
A PCBU must manage electrical risks by identifying reasonably foreseeable hazards and eliminating risks so far as reasonably practicable, or otherwise minimising them through control measures.
Control measures must be reviewed to ensure they work as planned. For work on or near energised electrical equipment, a PCBU must ensure a risk assessment is conducted by a competent person and recorded before work commences. Such work must be carried out in accordance with a safe work method statement (SWMS), which should be developed in consultation with relevant workers.
