The obligation
The code sets out options for mechanically protecting underground electric cables, including conduit, protective covers and marker tape.
Under roads, cable should be installed in suitable conduit, and in the electricity footpath allocation in LD Class electrical conduit. Outside the footpath allocation, options include LD Class conduit with an AS4702 polymeric cable protection cover not less than 75mm above the cable, or orange polyethylene pressure pipe of minimum rating PN10 for PE80 Class pipe complying with AS/NZS4130.
