The obligation
Queensland child employment law sets a minimum working age and limits when and how long school-aged children may work; the Code complements this law.
Generally, an employer must not require or permit a child under 13 to do any work, although a child of any age may do volunteer work or work in the entertainment industry. A child of at least 11 may do supervised delivery of newspapers, advertising material or similar items between 6am and 6pm. It is an offence for an employer to require or permit a school-aged child to work when they are required to attend school.
