Records should include the unique identification number, as-built and approved drawings and calculations, compliance or test certificates, inspection results, major repairs, and maintenance or modifications with who did the work and when. Operators of track maintenance rolling stock must be competent with their machine and trained and assessed in network operating rules. Rolling stock hazards include visibility, equipment failure, fire, coupling and uncoupling crush risk, and derailment.
