The obligation
Defines which workplaces and duty-holders must comply with this Code — any NT workplace covered by the WHS Act where welding is performed or welding products/equipment are used or stored.
The Code applies to all workplaces in the Northern Territory covered by the WHS Act and WHS Regulations where welding is carried out or where welding products and equipment are used and stored. Duty-holders include PCBUs conducting or managing welding operations. The Code is approved under the WHS Act; following it creates a presumption of compliance with the relevant legislative duties. Allied processes (cutting, gouging, brazing, soldering) are also within scope where the same hazards arise.
