The Code requires PCBUs to ensure worker exposures to welding fumes, gases (e.g. ozone, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide), and metal particulates (e.g. hexavalent chromium, manganese, cadmium) remain within the WES set under the WHS Regulations. Where residual exposure remains after engineering controls, air monitoring must be conducted. Health monitoring is required where workers are exposed to hazardous substances at or above action levels.
