The obligation
PCBUs must conduct a risk assessment for hazardous chemicals at the workplace, including identifying hazards, assessing likelihood and severity of harm, and documenting findings.
Under the NT Code of Practice, PCBUs must identify all hazardous chemicals present (via Safety Data Sheets and registers), assess the risk of harm from each chemical's properties and how workers may be exposed, and determine appropriate controls using the hierarchy of controls. Risk assessments must be reviewed when circumstances change, an incident occurs, or new information becomes available. Records of risk assessments should be kept.
