The obligation

The Code applies to all persons conducting a business or undertaking (PCBUs) involved in stevedoring in the NT. Duty holders must manage risks across the full stevedoring operation: loading/unloading ships' cargo, stacking/storing cargo on a wharf, and receiving/delivering cargo within a terminal. Workers, designers, manufacturers, and suppliers of plant/equipment also carry obligations. The Code is approved under s 274 of the WHS (NUL) Act 2011 (NT) and sets the benchmark for due diligence.
