The obligation

Under WHS Regulation 294–296 (NT), persons who commission construction work must consult with the designer, and designers must provide a safety report to the commissioning person. Principal contractors bear overarching duties to manage health and safety across the construction project, including preparing and maintaining a WHS management plan and ensuring SWMS are prepared for high-risk construction work. These obligations apply to all PCBUs involved in construction work in the NT.
