The obligation
PCBUs must not direct a worker to enter a confined space without a valid entry permit issued by a competent person.
Under the NT Confined Spaces Code of Practice, a PCBU must not direct a worker to enter a confined space unless an entry permit has been issued. The permit must be reviewed by a competent person and must not be entered unless all duties have been complied with (e.g. atmospheric testing, isolation, rescue procedures). Signs must be erected at each entry point. The entry permit regime is a core compliance obligation for any business with confined space work.
