The NT Abrasive Blasting Code of Practice specifically addresses prohibited and restricted chemicals/media (Code s 3.1). Dry silica sand blasting is a key restricted activity due to silicosis risk. PCBUs must assess and select appropriate media (see Appendix A of the Code), applying the hierarchy of controls. This is one of the highest-risk compliance obligations under the Code.
