The obligation
PCBUs must fit working platforms with edge protection and give workers a safe way to get on and off them.
Where flooring is being laid, safe access and exit must be provided, and access should be limited to the workers laying the flooring and erecting the wall frames. If a person working from a ladder or an unguarded platform, such as a low trestle scaffold, could fall over a guardrail into an opening, adequate protection must be provided, for example by covering the opening. Toe-boards should be fitted so tools and materials are not kicked into voids.
