The obligation
PCBUs must train workers in EWP safe operating procedures, fall arrest equipment use, emergency rescue, and restrict EWP use to approved surfaces and purposes.
The Code sets specific obligations for EWPs: workers must be trained in safe operating procedures for the brand and type of EWP, in fall arrest equipment and emergency rescue. EWPs must only be used as working platforms (not for access/egress unless AS 2550.10-2006 conditions are met), only on solid level surfaces (unless designed for rough terrain), and operators must check for penetrations or obstructions that could cause overturning.
