The obligation
Air monitoring is mandatory for all friable asbestos removal in buildings/structures and plant. A licensed asbestos assessor must issue a clearance certificate before re-occupation.
The Code requires a detailed air monitoring program for all friable asbestos removal work. Air monitoring must be conducted by a licensed asbestos assessor independent of the removalist. Non-friable removal does not require air monitoring under the Code. On completion, friable removal areas cannot be re-occupied until a clearance inspection and certificate is issued by the licensed assessor. Results must be documented in the ARCP.
