PCBUs must provide adequate first aid equipment, trained first aiders, and facilities. Requirements are determined by a risk assessment considering work nature, hazards, workplace size/location, and workforce composition (WHS Regulation cl 42).
The SafeWork NSW Code of Practice: First Aid in the Workplace (approved under WHS Act 2011 s 274) requires PCBUs to conduct a first aid risk assessment and provide: adequate first aid kits (including contents per Appendix C), sufficient trained first aiders proportional to workplace risk and size, and appropriate first aid facilities.
