The obligation
Safe Work Australia published an updated 2022 edition of the Model Code of Practice for Preparation of Safety Data Sheets for Hazardous Chemicals. Jurisdictions including NSW and WA have adopted the updated version.
The 2022 edition supersedes earlier versions of the Model Code. It incorporates updates to align with current GHS practice and WHS Regulation requirements. NSW adopted it under section 274 of the NSW WHS Act 2011 and WA published it under its own work health and safety framework. Duty-holders should confirm the edition in force in their jurisdiction and update SDS processes accordingly.
